Condi to the Stanford Students: Bush Tried to Do the Right Thing But the Supreme Court Stopped him

I wanted to make another comment about the patronizing attitude of Condi Rice to the questions posed to her by Stanford Students.  She dismisses one student for failing to know that Bush and her wanted to treat the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay fairly by giving them a military commission trial. YouTube Then she asked whether the student knew who stopped Bush from following the law.  The student had no answer, and then she said the Supreme Court stopped Bush from doing what was right. I believe that she is referring to the Supreme Court decision in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld. Hamdan v. Rumsfeld - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Actually according to the Court, Bush was attempting to violate the basic laws of war as embodied in the Geneva Convention and the Uniform Code of Military Justice in several important respects.  So, from the Court's view, the decision kept Bush from violating the fundamental laws adopted by this country as to the treatment of prisoners.  Anyone can make their own mine up after reading the decision and then watching the Video.
