For those interested in searching for content on this blog, I believe the google search box on the right hand side, under the Feedjit widget, is better than the search box at the top left hand corner.
Also, if you are interested in a discussion of a particular security, like AEB or INZ, then the search in the google box will produce results limited to just those symbols. Some of the results will be to title of posts that contain the search phrase.
Over time, I have gravitated to using the word hybrid when describing the securities from the European financial institutions, which are both junior bonds and equity. For a long time, I just referred to the Aegon and ING issues without using the word hybrid at all. Instead, I use the word preferred, as in equity preferred stock to identify the equity characteristic of the hybrid which gave it the qualified dividend status for U.S. taxpayers.
Many of the Posts on a particular topic can be found as links in a Gateway post. An example would be equity preferred floating rate preferred stocks as a category of floater: Floaters: Links in One Post The links to where I discuss individual floaters are then contained in that Gateway Post for floaters. The most general post for someone wanting more information about this particular asset class without a lot of discussion on a particular issue could go the post in large Green letters which is : Advantages and Disadvantages of Equity Preferred Floating Rate Securities If you were interested in Synthetic floaters, then the Gateway Post on Floaters will have links to particular ones that I have bought and sold as well as a general post about them which is in large cap green letters: Synthetic Floaters
