Donald routinely engages in witness intimidation. This is accomplished through various means including attacking witnesses publicly with false or misleading statements and firing anyone who provides truthful information. All trades are commission free unless otherwise noted.

I am going to be repeating this statement in every blog:

The reasons for selling the highest cost lots first are (1) to reduce my income tax obligation resulting from
a sell; (2) to generate a total return in excess of the dividend payments; (3) to increase my dividend yield on the remaining shares; (4) to take advantage of normal up and down volatility by selling the highest cost lots profitably and then by buying when the price falls below the lowest price paid in the chain; (5) to make it more likely that I will buy during a meltdown after selling higher cost shares (psychological); and (6) to mitigate risk through less at risk monetary exposure.

Risk is also controlled through small odd lot trades made economically feasible now with zero brokerage commissions.

I am not concerned about the dollar value of the profit provided I am in achieving the objectives set out above.

When the classification is tilted toward ROC, I am more inclined to own the shares in a taxable account.

  2. Investcorp Credit Management BDC Inc. (ICMB)
    Today's Close at $7.22
    Market Cap 99.192M
    https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/ICMB?p=ICMB

This out-of-favor BDC released its 4th quarter report after the close today:

    https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/investcorp-credit-management-bdc-inc-reports-results-for-its-fiscal-second-quarter-ended-december-31-2019-301002239.html

The Board declared the regular quarterly dividend of $.25 per share. At today's closing price of $7.22, that works out to a 13.85% yield.

NII per share was reported at $.27. The BDC claimed that book value per share was $10.15, down from $10.19 as of 9/30/19 and $10.51 as of 6/30/19. At $7.22, the discount to net asset value using the $10.15 per share claimed value is -28.67%.

There are obviously issues when looking at a 28.67% discount and an almost 14% dividend yield.

One major issue is that about 11.71% of net assets consist of PIK loans to 1888 Industrial Services, an energy equipment and services company.

    See top of page 5
    https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1578348/000119312520029862/d600213d10q.htm

There are three problems identified in the previous sentence: (1) energy equipment and services (2) PIK loan which means that no cash interest is being paid and (3) 11.71% of net assets in PIK loans to that company.

If this BDC could unload all of those PIK loans for their claimed value as of 12/31/19, then I would expect a significant rally in the shares and a narrowing of the discount.

Management are asked about these PIK loans to 1888 Industrial in every conference call.

Another issue relates to the current value of $11.874M Fusion Connect loan, which was on non-accrual and in bankruptcy as of 12/31/19, and still valued at $7.48M as of 12/31/19.

This loan was discussed in the November 2019 conference call:

    Page 3
    https://seekingalpha.com/article/4306355-investcorp-credit-management-bdc-inc-icmb-ceo-michael-mauer-on-q1-2020-results-earnings-call?page=3

The company emerged from bankruptcy last mont. The Fusion Connect DIP and Exit loans are not on non-accrual as of 12/31/19.

I view ICMB as high risk and consequently own only a few shares. (117+ in my Schwab account; 219+ in a Fidelity account with an average cost of $7.27) Generally, the idea is to escape at some point with a penny or more profit on the shares.
